In Loving memory
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend
Born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Jorge Ernesto Cabello Moreno, 87, passed away quietly in his sleep in Austin, Texas, Saturday September 14, 2024 leaving behind a rich legacy and a lifetime of memories.
One of Jorge’s greatest milestones was finding the love of his life, Maria Esther Medrano, at an early age. Together, they embarked on a 69-year adventure, building a life full of love and sacrifice. Their biggest journey came when they moved to the United States, setting down roots and creating a future for their family.
Jorge was a simple man, but he found joy in lengthy conversations about politics, science, and the mastery of telling the best jokes over and over again. His infectious laugh was a constant reminder of his joyful spirit, one that his family carries with them in their own laughter.
He loved singing “Happy Birthday” to everyone, whether they were friends, family, or even strangers. Though Jorge hated admitting he was ever sick, he always prioritized taking care of his family over his own setbacks. He wasn’t always vocal about his feelings, but he expressed to his wife that he loved his family unconditionally. His sense of humor brought countless moments of joy to family gatherings, especially when he created comedy routines with his beloved son George Jr.
Jorge was an avid reader, always looking forward to his deliveries of Reader’s Digest and his favorite magazine from Mexico, “DUDA,” which fed his curiosity for the unexplained. His passion for UFOlogy and stranger-than-fiction mysteries reflected his love of seeking out the unknown.
Jorge was a passionate boxing fan and loved talking about the weight divisions, champions, and losers of the most memorable fighting matches. He couldn’t wait to watch the latest bout, especially on special occasions like his anniversary or birthday.
Jorge will be deeply missed, but he will not be forgotten, for his legacy lives on in our hearts and minds. This is what he would want, and it was his wish that we rekindle these memories as we carry on.
Jorge is survived by his beloved wife, Esther, and their children, Myrna, Robert, and Hugo. He has now joined his loving son, George Jr., in heaven.
Rest in Peace Jorge Ernesto Cabello and may your legacy live forever.
It was Jorge’s wishes that he be cremated and to keep his memory alive by recounting stories of his life.
